Removal of metals from lead-zinc mine tailings using
This study investigated metals removal from lead-zinc mine tailings using bioleaching and followed by sulfide precipitation. Metals were dissolved from the tailings by the bacteria in a bioleaching reactor. During a 10% pulp density bioleaching experiment, approximately 0.82% Pb, 97.38% Zn, and 71.37% Fe were extracted after 50 days.

Oct 01, 2017 Lead-zinc tailings used for this study were collected from a lead-zinc mine plant in Shaoguan, China. Lead-zinc mine tailings were prepared by crushing and screening the material to particle sizes below 74 μm. A representative sample of the mine tailings was pulverized to conduct the chemical and mineralogical analysis.

Mine Tailings Dean Carter Binational Center for
Mine tailings are large piles of crushed rock that are left over after the minerals of interest such us lead, zinc, copper, silver, gold, etc., have been extracted from the rocks that con- tained them. The extraction process is only partially efficient and, as a result, a percentage of the desired minerals are left behind in the mine tailings.
